My you buy expensive things...

Our next door neighbors are from the Netherlands. They are a sweet family and have 3 boys, the youngest being Gabbie's age. They are often found on their various bikes, scooters, and cars going up and down the driveway and all around the cul de sac. Gabbie often joins them on her tricycle or her push car.

On the weekend of Gabbie's birthday, we pulled out her Power Wheels that she had received the year before but wasn't old enough to ride. The oldest boy(8) came up to Jeff and in his sweet Dutch accent said, "My you buy your daughter expensive things. That is like $150!" Jeff laughingly replied, "No, we definitely didn't buy this. It was a present.

It's true though, Gabbie has been blessed with some nice things and we are very grateful for that. It is all thanks to our family though. One of the perks to having a sister who works for Mattel is that she gets lots of free Barbie and Fisher Price stuff!

Wait until the little boy gets a load of her new scooter!

Gabbie is fascinated by the boys next door and is constantly observing and absorbing everything they do. One day she abruptly ran into the house and disappeared in her room. She came out wearing a police hat from her dress up bin. Jeff and I looked at her puzzled until we realized she was trying to find a helmet just like the older boys had. Of course we went out and got her a real one. After seeing how graceful Gabbie is on her new scooter, it was probably a good idea. We also made sure to equip her with hand, elbow, and knee pads.
